The latest SR Sequel News Update: MTV.com questioned both James Marsden and Frank Langella on whether or not the up-coming Justice League movie would have any affect on the future of the Superman franchise. James Marsden: "I know nothing. I saw one article about 'Justice League' being made, and I thought well, how's that going to affect the future of [Superman]?" James Marsden, who played Richard White in Bryan Singer's "Superman Returns" confessed to MTV News. "So I have no idea. I really don't." Frank Langella: "I have no doubt it will happen again. I just don't think it will happen soon," Frank Langella said. "I thought the first one was a beautiful film. I thought the concept was staggering. It got criticized for not being the kind of Superman everybody expects but Jesus!" Langella continued. "[But that said] I had dinner with Bryan a couple months ago and he said he wants to do the next one shorter, tighter, and with a lot more action in it."source: Superman Homepage

Some Rumors and speculations... I hope this isn't true this latest not-so-good news relating to the SR sequel. No Superman for Singer? JLA Movie Delayed?Variety.com's deputy editor Anne Thompson published an entry in her weblog stating that she thought Bryan Singer would not return to film another Superman movie, and that the "Justice League of America" movie would be delayed by the on-going Writer's strike... Speaking of DC Comics pics, it is highly unlikely that Bryan Singer will return to shoot the next Superman movie. (The director is finishing up Tom Cruise's Nazi film Valkyrie, and prepping The Mayor of Castro Street). The next Superman we will see on the big screen will not be Brandon Routh, but a younger Superman among a cast of youthful superheroes in The Justice League. That movie will likely not be shot, however, until after the WGA strike is resolved.Thomspon, using words such as "unlikely" and "likely" in making the predictions above, doesn't reveal who her sources are for such information and is likely just stating her personal opinion. source: Superman HomepageAlso... Brandon Routh not returning for 'Man of Steel' too?Not long after we mentioned this article from Variety stating that Bryan Singer is highly unlikely to direct the Superman Returns sequel, Latino Review posted more possible bad news for the second film -- Brandon Routh may not return either as Clark Kent/Superman. According to the site, the actor that lands the Superman role in George Miller's Justice League will go on to star in a separate Superman movie as well. Again, none of this is official until the studio actually confirms or denies these rumors (about both Singer and Routh), so it will be a wait-and-see game for now.More related articles below:

Update... Brandon Routh Is Evidently Still The Man Of Steel!Aint It Cool News reports: I just got off the phone with a very high-ranking mole who is absolutely in a position to know what's happening with this film, and he tells me that it is "absolutely false" that Brandon Routh is out as Superman for the stand-alone series. The only thing that has been determined is that JUSTICE LEAGUE will not feature the actors from the other films. That's it. Right now, Routh is still Warner's choice to return if they make another stand-alone SUPERMAN film, and that's based on conversations as recently as a few weeks ago.
Don't believe this one, kids. Routh's still the Man of Steel.

New update on the MOS sequel:
IESB.net has posted a report from ShoWest, directly from Warner Brothers, updating us on the in-development Superman: The Man of Steel.
First is that it is confirmed that Bryan Singer is 100% on as director for the sequel. Also, the writers picked to replace Michael Dougherty and Dan Harris, will be Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman who wrote Transformers and the upcoming Star Trek film.
The pair are apparently in talks and have had "several meetings" regarding the film. No need to worry about a lack of action from these two!

Some new MOS News from the following SR cast (who are still signed/contracted for the SR sequel): Kate Bosworth: [...] At the same time, Kate Bosworth is not adverse to doing commercial fare, such as Superman Returns or its much discussed sequel, which looks happening and Kate Bosworth will be back as Lois Lane if it all happens. "I mean we really don't know. Kevin and I both contracted to do another film. We heard from a journalist the other day that Brian Singer was had made a deal or is making a deal. I wish I could tell you more, but I don't. I'd love to do it. I enjoyed it so much, and I'd love to do another one." This despite gripes from fanboys that she was miscast in the role. "To be quite honest, I'm not really aware of that, so thanks a lot," she responds laughingly. "I feel fortunate to be cast, but you can't please everyone. One of the biggest things I've learned in this industry is that if you sit there and try desperately to please everything you're just going to run in circles and drive yourself mad. So I feel really fortunate to be cast by Brian Singer and I'll tell you, not someone who is easily influenced. He's very meticulous, so if some of the bloggers don't think I was right for the choice but he did, then I'm fine with that. Look, you're going to get that with a film that's so iconic and everyone's going to have a really strong opinion about everything, so I understand it."[...] Read full article here. This is a very recent article/interview. Kate has been promoting her new film, "21" these days. Brandon Routh: Let's keep it Kryptonian for a moment -- we got an email from Eli about this article in Empire Online, with actor Brandon Routh saying it's unlikely for Zod to be in the sequel. "In the first one, the obstacle was Superman's love for Lois and his son, and Luthor using that against him," Routh said. "I just know that in the next film there will be a lot of action and I'm gonna get to fight something, or someone. An enemy with real physical power might be worked in there, definitely." source: Comic Book Resourcesand Kevin Spacey: Kevin Spacey DarkHorizons.com interviewed Kevin Spacey about his new film titled "21" and during the interview asked him about returning as Lex Luthor in the next Superman movie... Question: I understand that Bryan Singer is about to meet with his writers to do a new draft of Superman? Spacey: I hear that, that is exactly what's happening, and I would suspect that if the movie's going to go forward, and I don't know any more than you do, that it probably will be sometime in 2009. Question: And you are quite keen to go back on board as Lex Luthor, aren't you? Spacey: I'm signed to go back on board. [LAUGHTER] Yeah, no, my deal was a two-picture deal. Question: Well, they'll sign your life away the way they do these big franchise movies. Spacey: Yeah, but it was the first one I'd ever did, and, quite frankly, but I'd do it again, with Bryan Singer after 10 years, since Usual Suspects was a complete pleasure, and I loved it, and so I look forward to being able to get another crack at it.You can read the complete interview at DarkHorizons.com. The latest news on SR Sequel comes from a new interview with the Man of Steel himself, Brandon Routh when ComingSoon.net interviewed him... ComingSoon.net just published a new and very interesting interview with Brandon Routh, mainly to discuss about his upcoming new movies ("Lie To Me," "Life Is Hot In Cracktown," Miss Nobody," and "Dylan Dog") as well as an upcoming TV Show for NBC, "Fear Itself," an anthology series he will be part of this summer (he'll appear in an episode titled, "Community"), but also to ask him about the sequel to "Superman Returns." Here's an excerpt from the interview... Q: Do you have any expectation as to when you might go to work on "Man of Steel"? Routh: I expect that we'll be working early next year. I know that Bryan [Singer] has pretty much finished out "Valkyrie" and is back in the states and is zeroing in on the story that he wants to tell. Once that arrives it's going to move pretty quickly. I think that everybody is getting excited. It's been three years now, really. It's hard to believe that it's been long, but everyone is getting jazzed and ready to go again. I certainly am. Q: What sides of Superman and Clark Kent are you excited about exploring in the sequel? Routh: Well, I think that something that audiences are looking for - and I certainly am, too - is for Superman to actually be able to lay a punch on someone or something. I was filming and I thought, "I haven't really hit anything. I feel like I'm going to need to let some of this anger out." So I'm happy that I think that's going to be a central part of the sequel, getting a good villain that we can actually have physical altercations with. Certainly also, I'd like more humor from Clark or just more of Clark and Jimmy. A little bit more of Lois and Clark, how we used to see them, a bit more of buddies. Perhaps things will be smoothed over with Superman and Lois and she can afford to be a little bit nicer to Clark. I think that's something that people want to see and those are some of the great moments from previous "Superman" films. Also, Superman and Lois getting together, that's always my end goal. I want that to happen. The romantic in me wants that to happen eventually whether they're finally together in this movie or in whatever future films there might be. I kind of want to see that happen.
Q: Poor James Marsden. He's getting used to losing the girl. Routh: I know, but he had some good films come out this year, and so James is doing all right. Q: Has Bryan given you any voice in the plan, maybe asking you what you'd like to see or what you're looking forward to? Routh: Yeah, and well, even if he doesn't ask I tell him all the time. He's very receptive to my notes and my thoughts and so I just let him know. I keep telling him that thing about Lois and Superman getting together and I trust that if I keep repeating that he'll just think it's his own thought someday.Read Brandon Routh's full interview at ComingSoon.net.

SR sequel news update... Brandon Routh says 'Man of Steel' is being writtenHollywood.com interviewed Superman Returns star Brandon Routh to talk about his upcoming film Fear Itself. On the last page of the article, Routh's Superhero job came up, and he divulged some bits about where Bryan Singer's Man of Steel is at these days: HW: Is Justice League going to come out before the next Superman? BR: Oh, I think it seems as though that's not happening, it's on the back burner right now so it's just Man of Steel now.
HW: When are you doing the next Superman? It's taking a long time. BR: I know, they're busy writing a script and then I trust we'll be starting next year, early next year. That's my timeline anyway.Check out the whole interview @ Hollywood.com. Source: BlueTights.net For more SR sequel news, go here.

Does anyone have anything newer? Unfortunately, nothing new as this the next Superman film has been hold due to Warner Bros./DC Comics' legal issues with one of the Superman creators' family. So, no Superman movie, I guess for a while until they settle and in some kind of agreement about the Superman franchise. I don't really know much about their legal issues other than there's no plans for a Superman movie anytime soon. It's sad really as it's been 4 years since Superman Returns and nothing new has been mention about a next Superman movie whether it's a sequel or a reboot or whatever. I wonder if it will take another 20 years before there's another Superman movie... I hope not...that would suck. I still want Brandon Routh to play Superman if there's another one someday... Speaking of Superman...there's a new interview of SR's Brandon Routh talking about Superman... Brandon Routh Talks about Returning to Superman.
