What we have so far: Singer Talks Sequels
TodayOnline has an interview with Superman Returns director Bryan Singer in which he clarifies some comments he made at San Diego Comic Con 06. At the World Largest Comic Convention this last summer, Singer - a self-proclaimed Trekkie - compared a Superman sequel to "The Wrath of Khan," the second Star Trek film. Asked to expand on his remarks, Singer told TODAY:"What I was referring to was the fact that, when you do a first film like X-Men, for example, you're introducing a new world and a set of characters."
"Once those characters are introduced, once we've lived with them for awhile and we know them, when you get into a second film like an Empire Strikes Back... or Wrath of Khan, you can make an action-adventure film... Now you can raise the stakes, raise the jeopardy and make a leaner, meaner movie."Source: BlueTights.net Scanned an article on the Superman Returns sequel

Regarding the rumours of a Superman/Batman film, here's a new interview with Chris Nolan from In Focus:
TWO STRIKES
MOVIE PUBLICIST: I have to drag Chris back on the set. One more question.
Uh…. Will the Joker be the only villain in “Dark Knight”? Can we safely confirm Ryan Phillippe as Harvey Dent and Philip Seymour Hoffman as The Penguin/Cobblepot? You struck out with your last question!
I know. How sad!
My editor wanted me to ask. Wasted! Wasted!
I’m sorry. Is there another question?
Could you see your Batman interacting with Singer’s Superman? [Nolan laughs] Another strikeout? Another strikeout!
Oh, Lordy. One more. Third time lucky.
How did you come to collaborate with David Goyer on “Batman Begins”? Wow. I’m sure I can answer that one.
I first met him years before, through mutual friends one morning at breakfast. I remember chatting with him and thinking he was an interesting guy, and then, years later, checked out some of his stuff — especially “Dark City.” I was really impressed with the ideas in that film.
And when I was looking for somebody who really knew the world of comics — who could set me off on the right foot and really get me going in the right direction — he seemed the obvious choice. But he was absolutely booked up, because he was about seven or eight weeks from going into production on “Blade: Trinity,” which he was directing.
So we just spitballed a few ideas. And he said, “Look, you can have these ideas. I can’t write the script for you. I’m just too busy.” And then, over the course of a week or two, I guess he just realized that he couldn’t turn down the opportunity to write on the film. He loved the character so much. So he came on for a very short, intense period where we just thrashed out a story and he wrote the first draft. He had to work very, very fast. He’s a very quick writer.
Yeah, I’ve read that draft. There’s such a strong idea at the core of that thing. Yeah. A lot of the fun we had — which we’re also having as we do “The Dark Knight” — is throwing ideas around before anything is written. Just talking about the script. He’s a tremendous collaborator.

Thanks for posting that Mary. Hmm, so does that mean they don't consider doing a Batman/Superman movie like Singer does I hope they would after they finished doing all the sequels to both Batmans and Supes movies...I would so love to see a Batman/Superman movie.

Superman Sequel is Up Up and Away! Written by Stephanie Sanchez Wednesday, 25 October 2006 With Superman Returns breaking $200 Million domestically and a worldwide gross of over $390 million, Warner Bros. is moving forward with the sequel. Weeks before the DVD has it’s grandiose release, the IESB has learned that Bryan Singer has finalized a deal to move forward with the sequel this past weekend and the studio is planning to start production sometime next fall, possibly next September. When the IESB contacted a studio rep for comments we got this response - Warner Bros. does not comment on projects that are in development. A few calls later, other studio insiders confirmed that the deal was finalized last week and the team that brought Superman Returns to theaters earlier this year will return for the sequel. We have been told that a couple of things are for certain. For one, the sequel will have a slightly smaller budget. Returns budget was approximately $208 million dollars with P&A (prints and ads) of about $50 million putting it at around $260. The sequel is expected to be around $140-175 million plus marketing. Second, more action, tons more action is expected this time around. The studio was quite happy with the way Supes was reintroduced to the world and next time around expect to see him in full action battle mode. We’ve been told that Superman will have the battle of his life in the sequel and audiences can expect one of the ultimate baddies in the D.C. universe to come to Metropolis to pick a fight with the Man of Steel.Stay tuned to the IESB for the latest Superman news. www.iesb.net/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=581&Itemid=99

Here's a little something from the cinema magazine Fade In:
Actress Bosworth owes her first career break to her horseback riding skills, which helped her land a supporting role in "The Horse Whisperer" at age fourteen. She has worked so steadily ever since that she never acted upon an acceptance letter from Princeton. Her classic beauty has allowed her to play a diversity of roles, from "Blue Crush's" surfer girl and Sandra Dee in "Beyond the Sea", to a Hari Krishna-like devotee in "Bee Season" and Lois Lane in "Superman Returns". The latter has already made an impact on the kind of scripts she is getting. Since playing a young mother in "Superman Returns", she has been offered fewer teen roles. The twenty-three-year-old was expecting to play a Depression-era young woman on a road trip with her former boyfriend, Orlando Bloom, in "Seasons of Dust", but might opt for a "Superman" sequel first. She loves to travel and spend time with family.

Thanks for the updates! I'm so happy there will be more action in the sequel. Not that I didn't love SR, but action is what will draw the crowds in time and time again.

Yeah. SR was like an establishing kind of movie. I'm glad there will be a sequel. I hope they don't bring in Zod. I hope they bring in someone else as the villain.

^^ Me too. I'd like to see Darkseid & Intergang. I've had enough of Lex, and Zod would be a poor Superman II rip-off.

Variety Confirms Superman Sequel Deal Superman Returns Variety has confirmed that Bryan Singer has signed a deal to direct a sequel to "Superman Returns".
Bryan Singer has inked a deal with Warner Bros. Pictures to direct and produce a sequel to "Superman Returns," with Legendary Pictures expected to co-finance.
Pic is tentatively intended for release in summer 2009, although the studio stressed that there's not even a script or budget yet.
Sequel is apparently at the very beginning of the development process and, as with any other project, there are any number of factors that must be addressed before it is greenlit.
