Hey guys. I'm a lurker here, so you guys don't know me. I enjoy reading all of your psots very much. I'm a die-hard Clois fan and I love this place.
I don't know if anybody has posted this, but if so I apoplogize for the double post. Somebody posted at Sweet claiming to be DeKnight . If it's legit I feel that Smallville is lost. IMHO his post all but begged the Clana fans to hang in there and that he is also rooting for Clana return, despite that pesky edict from DC that Clark ends up with Lois.
Here it is:
Hello, you wonderful sweet people! I’ve been talking with one of your eloquent posters, Carla, and she recommended I drop by and check out your forum. Very cool. Any writer worth his tasty salt always loves it when the stories they’re telling arouses such passion. I know a lot of you were disappointed by the events in Reckoning, and some of you even stopped watching the show. I can understand your feelings (I personally loved the episode, but I’m coming it from a different perspective), but I hope if you’ve left the fold you might be persuaded to come back.
This morning I was doing DVD commentary on Splinter with James Marsters and James Marshall (director, producer, all around great guy). When we got to the scene towards the end where Clark visits Lana in the hospital, we all commented on what great chemistry these actors have with each other, and even more than that, how their relationship is the heart of the show, and has been since the pilot. So don’t think everyone involved with Smallville has forgotten that.
That being said, we are telling a story that takes place over (hopefully) six or seven years. So there will be many ups and downs. Right now Clark and Lana are experiencing a very big down. Will they work it out and get back together? Will Clark finally tell her his secret and not go back in time and erase it all? I wish I could tell you for sure, but it’s not my show. I can only speculate like the rest of you. Okay, I may be able to do a little more than speculate, but not much.
I also see that a lot of you are completely turned off by the thought of Lex and Lana together. I see where you’re coming from, but I have to tell you, I think Michael and Kristin do some of their best work when they’re playing off each other. I’m fascinated by their dynamic and the tension it brings to the show. I’m not saying that they should end up together like in Lexmas (which I adored, by the by), but this storyline gives us – and the actors – so much to sink our teeth into. And personally, I’d rather see her with Lex than some recurring guest star that I couldn’t give a crap about.
Which again isn’t to say that Clark and Lana won’t return to each other wiser and more in love for the experience. I hope they do, even though we all need to be aware that Clark will eventually marry Lois Lane. I don’t think this will happen on Smallville, but the future there is written in stone by Warner Bros./DC Comics. That’s the mythology and that’s the continuity we have to live by. But in the meantime, I’m rooting for Clark and Lana to eventually find their way back to each other. ‘Cause heck, I’m just a sucker for a good old fashioned love story. Even if it ends tragically.
So there you go. These are all my own personal opinions, not Al or Miles or Warner Bros. or anyone else. Just me. And now you can let me know your opinions personally. I’ve set up a myspace account to keep in touch with the fans, so drop by, be my friend, and I promise I’ll try to be yours. And just like real friends, I’m sure we’ll piss each other off sooner or later. Don’t worry. We’ll hug and make up. And maybe Clark and Lana will too.
If Clana ever rears it head again, I'm gone. Clark will be no closer to being Superman in Season 6 and Lana will still make the show go round. No thanks.
