Heres a question I have about what DeKnight said...about Lois's restrictions and how no romance for clark and lois but also Lex and Lois...I know in LnC they had her go out with Lex in season 1 but aside from that did she ever date him in the comics to warrant such a restriction....I dont remember that?

Restrictions just suck. I don't know why there was a Lex/Lois restriction. But I think they've only be in 2 or 3 eps where they had scenes. I like their interaction on SV though, no matter how limited.

I am not sure of ALL the comics but usually there is either no Lex and Lois or Lex likes Lois but she doesn't give him the time of day. And those restrictions really do suck but hey we got a hug and Lex and Lois interaction why not a possession or dream kiss?

Sometimes I wished DC was like Marvel no ties in with any movie company. Because they also had restrictions on a Krypton storyline they wanted to do and they can't have Jor-el appear on screen, it so now we know Mr Singer has no problem with SV telling their story but the movie division sadly has their hands tied.

I HATE RESTRICTIONS. But I still have hopes. I mean, they Clark and Lois couldn't hug or kiss, and Lois couldn't have any scene with Lex. It turned out Clark and Lois DID hug - twice (yay!) - and Lois HAD a few scenes with Lex yes, which, in my opinion, were very well-done. So, we got a hug, we got scenes with Lex... our so expected kiss may be on its way. ^^ And I do believe they want to do more Clois but they just can't. For now. We'll just have to wait and see what happens after SR.

I made this post at the EDH Forum, I hope people will enjoy it and find it interesting. I appreciate Mr. DeKnight's candor to speak with fans, but from the impression I get from his answers I'm not really a fan of his work or style. Sometimes I like it ("Spell" - though mainly due to the classic commentary, "Lockdown" was pretty good, and I think there's a couple others), but he's been responsible for a lot of episodes I didn't care for at all. Plus any male that can't get behind an ep with Lois going undercover and stripping? Well the respect level dips, all I'm sayin'. *Puts on his shock collar so he can control himself* lol. Basically, of course I don't agree with opinions that are in my opinion unwarranted criticisms of Lois. Seeing as if I were to continue to worry about other sites and people that shall not be named I'd probably have a dangerous blood pressure spike, I am going to do my best to embark in a different direction. First I am going to do my best to ignore any and all that shall not be named (we should abbreviate that to TSNBN, lol). As The Rock says, "IT DOESN'T MATTER what you think!!" concerning afore-mentioned TSNBNs. Instead, I respond with why I think Lois is all that and a bag of chips. The reason I love Erica Durance's portrayal of Lois Lane so much is because she's not perfect, she's real. She is not some charicature, she's an amazing young woman with both strengths she is fairly modest about and faults she acknowledges and owns up to. Her academic career has not been glorious, but not because she isn't smart. To her at this time in her life, it isn't important to her. She even admits that her type of "learning" is going out and doing, not studying. She is 110% a "go-getter". People don't give her answers about her cousin's alledged death in the beginning of season 4, she goes out and finds them herself. Someone is threatening her sister, she goes all-out to protect her. When people she cares about are in trouble or in need, she ACTS. Her primary concern isn't with herself, it's with others and those she loves. That right there is Lois Lane to a "T". Her concern with herself is enjoying life. She's rebellious because The General was an authoritarian and she has a lot of defense mechanisms because that's how she dealt with having to move around a lot as a child and any friends she made she lost because of that. It doesn't have to be spelled out IMO, I think Erica does a wonderful job giving performances layered with nuances. She gives Lois lots of unique "quirks" like 90-min short showers and sleep masks and belts with curse words, etc. ;D When she was expelled from college, she took a little bit of time (one episode really) to figure out what she wanted to do, and she decided to get a job to support herself. Though it was "just a coffeehouse waitress", she excelled at it once she got past opening day adjustments. After looking for Lucy for a while, when she returned she took another brief bit of time for transition this time in living arrangements, and she moved into her own place. Shortly after she bought a car, and Martha remarked how proud she was of Lois. Lois was appreciative and self-deprecating, because while Lois has always been confident and self-sufficient in dealing with people, she's struggled to really believe in herself. However as she has grown over her time spent with the Kents, first Jonathan and now Martha, she is learning that she can really be somebody special and make a difference. She has always been one who appreciates and will fight for people who help her and care about her. The Kents have given her, with her mom dying when she was 6 and her dad more of a soldier than a father, the parents she never really had. From helping rescue Martha, to reluctantly accepting and then excelling as Jonathan Kent's campaign manager (for no pay) while still working at the Talon, winning him the senate seat for the state of Kansas for her efforts, and then accepting and excelling as Martha Kent's chief of staff...Lois wants to help the Kents and wants to make them proud of her. She is still struggling with her personal life and romance, but she is finding that there are people like the Kents and despite their playful spats, like Clark, who really do care about and believe in her. And that support will help propel her towards her destiny. The world isn't black and white. People don't always know what they are going to do with their life from day one. People sometimes jump in before thinking things through and sometimes it gets them in trouble. 4.0s and academic achievement isn't the be-all-end-all for everybody. People fight long and hard for the people and causes they believe in. This is why I believe Erica Durance is the perfect Lois Lane, because she shows that Lois isn't perfect. She shows that Lois is human, and humane...the true measure of the only woman, worthy of a Superman.

Wow Luke you have described Erica as Lois beautifully. I would just like to add more to it Lois in SV is very brave and she can take up any role she is thrown in which shows how spontaneous she is. But for people who claim Chloe is Lois is Chloe that spontaneous?. In Exposed she threw Lois under the bus for undercover and Lois took it as a challenge and she did it. Chloe from her young age wanted to be a journalist and she is doing it now. But whatever story she has written in the paper did she do it by herself - No. She had help from Lois(Exposed) and Clark (Fate). The story published in Tomb was written by a different author. Just now Chloe is just a character in SV to move the plot along nothing more. Plus TPTB have written all the canon characters against what they will be in the future. All fans have the question every season 1. Will this Clark Kent become Superman 2. Will Lex become evil and be the arch nemesis of Superman 3. Will Lois become the top reporter of DP People can accept about Clark and Lex but why not Lois?.

*applauds Luke*
I give a rat's ass about DeKnight. Obviously he has no idea what will happen in season 6 and only tells people what they want to hear.
Now, that I have that out of the way, I will just say: I LOVE RESTRICTIONS. It means that the writers have to find new and creative ways to do things. If their stories still suck, well, that means they would also suck if there were no restrictions and they could do whatever they want to. I like Lois as polititan and I liked her romance with AC, all of that would not have happened if she were a reporter, who loved Clark. Actually, that story doesn't belong in SV anyway, it's Superman. SV is the journey, not the finish. Maybe that's one reason why I love Erica's Lois so much, because she isn't quite "Lois" yet. She's just a girl and the rest is still unwritten.
