Got this news from BlueTights.net:
There’s a plan in place, Mr. Globe said, to keep “Superman” fresh long after this summer’s movie leaves the multiplex. The studio already has announced another feature film with “Superman Returns” director Bryan Singer, likely for 2009, and possibly a direct-to-video movie in between the upcoming release and the 2009 offering. There will also be a steady stream of entertainment and product, directed by the studio’s global brand management team, which shepherds its franchise properties through every part of their life cycle.
Now, since it's not likely the video movie will be featuring Kate&Brandon, what if they're planning a Smallville movie? I would really like the show to end after the 6th season and then produce some tv movies. On the plus side there would be a bigger budget, more time to write the scripts and rehears, and no fill-in-episodes. On the other hand it would be less screen-time. What does everybody think about this?

I would love it if the movie was an "After Smallville" kind of thing. I always dreamed of the show becoming "Metropolis" instead of "Smallville" but I would be more than happy with a spin-off movie with Lois in the DP, Clark in tights, evil Lex, and no Lana Lang but somehow I doubt that would ever happen. Instead it would just be like 2 hours of 'Smallville' instead of one.

Yes yes yes, a Smallville movie, please, with Tom, Erica, Allison, Michael, Clark and Lois as kick-asses reporters, Chloe as their supervisor, Superman, evil Lex and Clois, Clois Clois and Clois.

I would love a Smallville movie. In Metropolis. Dealing with the real big 3. Lois, Clark, and Lex. It's like Smallville ends, but the story still continues. I don't care if it's going straight to video, I'd buy it. And then buy it for all my friends.

Intriguing...does it say if this is live-action or animated or is the quote the only specifics? The only other Superman-centric property they could do direct-to-DVD with that I can think of is Superman: The Animated Series, they do have one scheduled for 6/20/06 in that regard but that's prior to SR release in theaters. I'd think there'd only be one "Smallville" movie if they did it, a "this is the future" movie. Which would totally rock obviously. Hmm. If it's between '06 and '09, and *knock on wood* with Smallville Season 6 pretty much a certainty, the earliest the show would conclude as a series would be May 2007. Which you would think would make a 2008 release for a Smallville movie. And direct-to-DVD is really becoming viable these days and of much higher quality, as in the forth coming 2006 film "The Butterfly Effect 2" starring Erica Durance. *shameless plug* ;D To the best of my knowledge, Batman Begins sequel is due summer '08. So that keeps DC in the mainstream during that time. So a six season SV run could have a summer '08 DVD movie. Of course, when you think of filming, you'd think they'd probably wanna do it while they still have all the cast, crew, stages, sets, etc. intact. If Smallville goes 7 seasons (which is the max and the desired according to the creators), the series would conclude May 2008. If they were to film the movie after say a month/two-month break and then call it a series, they could get the Season 7 set out in maybe even August, then the movie out for the holiday season 2008 (late November), prime-promotional time to keep Superman in the public eye. If a "Smallville" movie occurs, I'd say summer 2008 or holiday 2008. I just know I want as much of Erica's Lois as possible.

I would love for them to do a Smallville movie... That would rock... And having it longer than two hours would be great as well... I wish they would have waited on the movies, but I'm still going to enjoy them anyways... Even I like Erica as Lois... Even having a season 8 of Smallville would be cool... And I'm hoping that next season even after the movie we will get a ton more Clois...

It would depend on the what it was about. I like the actors, I wouldn't even mind Lana IF she was only a friend. NO CLANA. (this is what scares me)
