Definitely expected, but always nice to get the official word! Next year is the one with potential to be a nail-biter, though we'd know early in '08 if S7 is the last. Hopefully we've got two more years left, we know we definitely have one more!! Looked at the Variety one, Justin Hartley's pilot did not get picked up. I believe it was called, "Spellbound". Sorry, Justin. #sad# The good news? How 'bout booking Justin for some appearances as Ollie/GA in S7?!

New Gough Interview Talks About The Finale & Future SeasonsiFMagazine.com has conducted an all-new interview with Smallville Executive Producer Alfred Gough. In the interview, he revealed some interesting tidbits, including talk of a Season 8. Here are some worth noting/posting here relating to this show getting picked up for season 7 and possibly season 8 and more... iF: Recently in Paris, you said that Tom Welling has been signed with the show through an 8th season – does this mean the show itself has been renewed for that long? And will it definitely be back next year? GOUGH: We'll officially find out about season 7 on May 17th [during the CW upfronts], but obviously we feel very confident we'll be back. As for season 8, who knows? There are a lot of factors that will play into that decision, not the least of which is the quality of season 7, so that is what we are focusing on at the moment. If there is an 8th season, that would be the show's last. Every hero may have a beginning, but every story has an end.iF: Since Michael Rosenbaum’s contract ends up next year, what would happen if the show went on for an 8th season – could the show go on without a Lex Luthor, and how? GOUGH: Quite honestly, I don't want to speculate on that, only to say if there is an 8th season, we hope Michael will be a part of it in some capacity, but if he chooses not to, the show will go on.iF: Reportedly, Justin Hartley [the Green Arrow] won’t be back next year – have we seen the last of the archer in the green hoodie? And what about the proto-JLA? GOUGH: I don't believe you've seen the last of Ollie, or some of his friends. Who knows, when you see him again, he may have more!iF: There’s been less and less of Lois Lane [Erica Durance] this season since Oliver Queen went off to pursue his JLA activities full-time – are there plans to make her more integral next season? GOUGH: Absolutely, part of that was because after the Green Arrow run, Erica went off to shoot a movie, but I think you'll see that she will play an integral part in the season finale, and next year we will really start to see the Lois we all know and love. iF: What teasers can you give us for the upcoming year – or two? GOUGH: New Characters, new relationships, and more mythology.iF: Will there be any other D.C. characters planned for the next season? GOUGH: Absolutely, stay tuned for an announcement in the late summer.iF: Do you have a theme mapped out for Season 7 yet? GOUGH: We just literally started with the writers on Friday, a lot of themes are emerging, so it is still too early to stamp one on the season.Read more of the rest of the interview here. source: iF Magazine

She went to shoot some of a movie because of the stupid "13" rule, Al! ;D Thanks, J! I want "Absolutely!" to mean 22 episodes for Erica per season! And is it any wonder that not enough Lois in the second half of the season equalled declining ratings? I think not! Hint hint, Al! Be true to your word for once!

You're welcome, Luke. Here are some official news announcements of Today's CW Upfront Fall Schedule... From Variety.com: CW announces fall scheduleNetwork adds six new seriesBy MICHAEL SCHNEIDER CWA year after launching with a safe schedule of mostly returning shows, the CW is hoping to make its mark this year by adding six new series to its lineup. Heading into the weblet's second season, CW entertainment president Dawn Ostroff said she was looking for shows that would help brand the fledgling operation. "Our new shows have attitude and a sense of fun, and they're going to define this network," said Ostroff. As expected (Daily Variety, May 17), the net will take advantage of its two reality hits to premiere two new dramas that could become signature shows for the weblet: "Reaper" and "Gossip Girl." A third new drama, "Life is Wild," will slide into "7th Heaven's" former Sunday home, keeping the 8 p.m. hour family-friendly. Net will also keep Thursday and Friday intact. "With established shows anchoring four nights and providing a launch pad for new programs, we will also have stability on our successful Thursday and Friday lineups," Ostroff said. "Shows that can be enjoyed by the whole family will air on Mondays and Sundays in the 8:00-9:00 hour, with the 7:00-8:00 hour on Sunday providing an innovative showcase for both viewers and advertisers." Meanwhile, with "One Tree Hill" on the bench, net said show will be dramatically retooled and set four years into the future -- after the characters have already graduated from college -- when it returns in midseason. Net will post online diaries on its website in the fall to fill viewers in on what happened to the show's characters during those missing years. Other shows set for midseason include the second edition of "Pussycat Dolls Present" and the new reality entries "Farmer Wants a Wife" and "Crowned: The Mother of All Pageants." From Hollywood Reporter: CW intros 'Reaper,' 'Gossip Girl' dramasBy Andrew Wallenstein May 17, 2007 The CW will rely on its reality hits to launch new scripted series, which were introduced Thursday at the network's upfront presentation. Smallville got renewed, just as everybody expected... So, is Al hinting at Lois going to the DP next season? I'm a bit sad that Veronica Mars got canelled, though. I was just getting into that show. I'm gonna cry if the finale next week doesn't end with Veronica&Logan together. I need some LoVe!

Here's another Smallville news from the CW UpFront...
Smallville Stays On Thursdays For Season 7; New Cast Member Added To The Roster
The CW has officially announced their Fall 2007 schedule, and another season of Smallville. is in the plans.
They have also released a write-up promoting the new season; if you read closely you may get a hint as to who is leaving the show. Also on the cast list for Season 7 is a new addition.
Fans should be happy that certain people ARE on the cast list, as well.
Here's that write-up:
Returning for its seventh season, this new interpretation of the enduring Superman mythology and its classic characters blends realism and adventure into an exciting action series. Fourteen years ago, a meteor shower burst from the heavens, raining destruction on the unsuspecting citizens of Smallville, Kansas. From the ashes of tragedy, emerged Clark Kent. Struggling to come to grips with his emerging superpowers, while battling the strange events that have plagued this idyllic Midwest hamlet since the meteor shower, Clark slowly learns to embrace his destiny. SMALLVILLE chronicles Clark's journey toward becoming the Man of Steel and his relationships with girl-next-door Lana Lang, future love Lois Lane and soon-to-be arch-nemesis Lex Luthor.
The series stars Tom Welling as Clark Kent, Kristin Kreuk as Lana Lang, Michael Rosenbaum as Lex Luthor, Erica Durance as Lois Lane, Allison Mack as Chloe Sullivan, John Glover as Lionel Luther and Aaron Ashmore as Jimmy Olsen. Reinterpreting the Superman mythology from its roots, SMALLVILLE was developed for television by Alfred Gough & Miles Millar ("Shanghai Noon," "Spiderman 2"), based on the DC Comics characters. Gough and Millar serve as executive producers, along with Ken Horton, Mike Tollin, Brian Robbins, Joe Davola, Kelly Souders & Brian Peterson and Todd Slavkin & Darren Swimmer. The series is produced by Tollin/Robbins Productions, Millar/Gough Ink and Warner Bros. Television. Superman was created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Schuster.

I think its great that Aaron got casted into Smallville... Now we really can see Chloe and Jimmy more than last year. And I'm excited that we are having a season seven of Smallville I'm hoping for season eight as well maybe even a season nine but then again I'm pushing for that one. And I'm also glad that Supernatural got another season too... Then I won't have to bit my nails on either of these shows to know what will happen... lol..
