Kevin Costner is cast as Jonathan Kent in new Superman film!
Deadline reports that actor Kevin Costner is now confirmed and officially cast by Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures as Martha Kent, Clark Kent/Superman's adopted mother. Kevin Costner was recently rumored to be playing Jonathan Kent, but is not confirmed just yet...Diane Lane (love her!!! great choice for Martha Kent!) is confirmed and you can read the Deadline article below...
Kevin Costner Set For 'Superman: Man Of Steel'
It's all over but the press release! Almost a month after Deadline revealed that Kevin Costner was in early talks for a lead role in Superman: Man of Steel, I hear that he has closed a deal to play Jonathan Kent, the adoptive dad of Clark Kent. Costner will join Henry Cavill, who is playing the title role, and Diane Lane, who is playing Martha Kent, his adopted mother.
Zack Snyder is directing for Warner Bros and Legendary Pictures. The Superman film is being produced by Chris Nolan, Charles Roven, Emma Thomas, and Deborah Snyder. The screenplay is being written by David S. Goyer based on a story by Goyer and Nolan. Thomas Tull and Lloyd Phillips are serving as executive producers. The new Superman is targeted for release in December 2012.

Costner will star alongside Diane Lane, who plays his wife, Martha, and the film's star, Henry Cavill, who will play the new Clark Kent/Superman.
