To end 2006 "Year Of SUPERMAN" celebration with a BIG BANG,
Warner Home Video has announced the fourteen-disc Superman: The Ultimate Collection's Edition" DVD Box Set. which includes Superman Returns: Special Edition, Superman II: The Richard Donner Cut, Superman: The Movie Four-Disc Special Edition, Superman II Two-Disc Special Edition and Superman III and IV Deluxe Editions. The set also offers 20 hours of extra content, including the documentaries You Will Believe: The Cinematic Saga of Superman and Look Up in the Sky! The Amazing Story of Superman and Returns director Bryan Singer’s video journal. The Ultimate box will be encased in a keepsake tin and includes a reproduction of the Superman comic book issue No. 7, a Superman overview booklet and a mail-in offer for five Superman theatrical movie posters.

I had some of the international info in mine for our international friends and the digitalbits story that broke the news (at least that's where I saw it first), but I don't think Peter saw it before he made this one. I agree with you, Marisol. I think this dvd boxset is awesome. #biggthumpup# I might get this instead of the individual ones! We'll see. It's pretty expensive, but they are all about Supes and I love me some him. ;D I might consider getting this instead and if I do buy that individual SR dvd...I might give it away for a holiday gift or something.

"First up... Superman. Warner Home Video has informed us that the fixed discs for the Superman: The Movie 4-disc set and the 14-disc Superman Ultimate box set are about to arrive from the replicator, which means they should START shipping out to those of you who called their 800 number (800-553-6937) over the next few days. Obviously, you'll need to be patient what with the Christmas mail slow down and the fact that TONS of people have been (and will be) calling the 800 number... but it looks like the discs are at least finally ready to ship. That also means that you should start seeing the fixed Superman 4-disc set and 14-disc Ultimate box in stores by mid-January. They'll have new SKU numbers to identify them, and we'll let you know what they are as soon as Warner informs us."

Finally someone answers my question! Looks like I'll finally get my rain-check much anticipated Christmas present in mid-January. ;D

I didn’t see any reference here about the slip up Warner Bros did with the theatrical version of Superman the Movie. I cringe when watching in it the soundtrack the so called original 1978 Dolby stereo soundtrack that was the first to be demonstrated to the public via the (70mm Dolby stereo with split-surrounds) (Dolby format 43) which helped to heighten the films action even during the wonderful John Williams score.

Well I can’t see how Warner Bros could slip up like this without even checking each of the two different versions out before duplication started.

I have know doubt most of you have got the replacement disc for the 1978 version but that’s only the half of it.

I have noticed dull soundtrack reproduction of some of the Foley effects like newspapers for example when Perry White tugs onto the Daily Planet when turning his back to the camera the sound is so faint on the newspaper you have to be standing 1 feet away from the centre channel. Now switch the audio language track over to a different track the version I would be referring to is the region 2 DVD for the UK market.

Wow now that sounds clear on the Foley effects expect LOL I don’t speak French but I do kiss that way.

Anyway just thought you should know and original means original otherwise it would be calmed to be a fake if this was an auction sale!
