Nothing surprises me about the (BBFC). As for the overall film itself I was wowed, but only by the Dolby digital surround soundtrack sure the visual elements have to have powerful chemistry for it to work. Deep in the soundtrack was making my Christmas dance around on top of the two sub bass units that I run to maximize performance. The blowing out from the sub bass extension this where I use one sub bass dedicated for extended the frequency response from the three front channels and surround channels where it’s always constant. With LFE.1 it only cuts in during certain key moments in films to extend the range down not just lower but to give it just a bit more creditability and it worked well on Superman Returns especially during chapters 11 and 12. I must have used that part in the film as demonstration several times over. The use of split-surrounds in this film was effective with centre back surround and overhead surround where I have installed a few JBL control 1 to the ceiling not to mention there are around x10 in all down the sidewalls and rear wall to give true super surround around and above! The use of dialogue was a bit on the quite side in some parts but still realistic enough to convince me Lex was in the room, -come on let hear you say -Superman -WRONG! Yeah it was top all the way and the opening entrance was fantastic to hear the John Williams superman theme playing out with loudness and deep in the string movements. I’d give it a 9/10 for image where it did show signs of roughness I guess this due to the digital transfer of the film I believe they filmed onto HD film. Sound 10/10 from the same crew who produced the soundtrack for 1999 Oscar winning sound mix The Matrix and some signs of the work did ten to show the film off with tremendous depth.
